The jewel of Walt’s lot. (A unique perspective from another life). This is the view from the sunroof of my car service, parked in front of the infamous Dwarf’s Building on Walt’s lot. I was invited to a lunch meeting in the Rotunda room, where they keep a stash of world class chefs. The food was wicked and the history of the place was enveloping. A little history: Back in 1937, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” was the highest-grossing film ever ($8.5M). Walt used the profits to purchase 51 acres in Burbank, where the studio is located today. That’s why the 19 foot Dwarfs hold up the 330,000 square foot building, designed by legendary postmodern architect Michael Graves (whom had just passed away days before my luncheon engagement). A metaphor for what brought Walt’s dynasty to fruition. Heigh Ho!
