PEACE

from $3,000.00

Artist: H Lynn Hacking
Location: Beverly Hills, California

Open your hand and spread your fingers wide. That is how large the face of this rose is. The scent is intoxicating from the hybrid tea. The Peace Rose is without a doubt the most famous rose ever, developed by French rose breeder, Francis Meilland between 1935 and 1939. When he saw that war with Germany was inevitable, he sent cuttings to friends in Italy, Turkey, Germany and the USA. It is said that it was sent to the US on the last plane available before the German invasion. One of these generations landed in Beverly Hills at the Virginia Robinson Gardens and has been blooming for over a half century. It became known as “Peace” internationally, on the day Berlin fell, when peace was declared. In the same year as the war ended, each member of the United Nations was given a Peace Rose with a note which read: “We hope the Peace Rose will influence men’s thoughts for everlasting peace”. Peace and love…

Deep pink to yellow tones. A sun-kissed bloom so close you can just about smell its fragrance – made for large format acrylic – and classic on stretched canvas – the metal option looks like satin – stunning as a standalone and incredible when accompanied with any of our other Florotica pieces – the limited editions look equally stunning signed and numbered, framed and mounted…
