Those crafty Romans. They conquered Segovia from the Arabs around 100 years BC. This structure is believed to be built around 100 AD and actually had water running uphill in some places. Ingenious, and a feat that baffles scholars to this day. The solid granite blocks are set without mortar, which would be extremely challenging today. The construction of the aqueduct follows the principles laid out by Vitruvius in his De Architectura published in the mid-first century BC and contributes to Segovia as being one of the World Heritage locations, which includes Vatican City, Machu Picchu and the Taj Mahal…
